THE GUARDIANS THAT PROTECT US
BY : ELISABETH BABARCI

This article is dedicated to officers, to honour them during National Police Week, who are the guardians that protect us.
The leaders of the force are like generals that stand beside their men on the front lines, no matter what the terrain or obstacle. The force to these leaders are their family, their roots, what makes them complete and whole. Not only do they stand with their men but they stand with those that they are entrusted to protect, leading by example. They encompass Rudyard Kipling’s walk with kings, while maintaining the common touch, never loosing their vision for what is right.
The force teaches us that we can not forget our roots, that every individual’s voice is powerful, has worth and all are equal, as they unite as one to serve and protect. They remind us to be the change that is required, to unite not divide, as they lead by example.
Many officers within the force are lightworkers with higher responsibilities. Their specific areas of expertise allow for a stronger and safer community. Having been given the monumental task of not only managing life, while dealing with the complexities of work, they sacrifice and dedicate their time to help those in need. Be mindful of the atrocities they have encountered and the images and aspects of life that have impacted them on a profound level.
Please remember, those in uniform are someone’s father, mother, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, partner, friend, parent and child. We all are united as a collective and we all need to respect one another. We each have value, worth, our own dreams, visions, and light.
As officers, and many citizens know, to be the change that you wish to see, you need to have a purpose, an inner light, something that propels you to be the best version of yourself in every waking moment.
Never loose hope, never be disconnected from what matters the most, and most importantly never loose heart in all matters.
We are all united as one, and with time and patience, no matter what we face as a community, we will always grow to a safer peaceful state. As a collective, we all are working in tandem with one another to achieve peace. We all have one goal in common which is to help humanity as we journey through life.
Thank You to all officers that selflessly dedicate their lives every day to protect us and uphold the law. We honour you this week for all you stand for and do for us as a community. Please know you are always protected, loved, and we value your service and courage to keep all of us safe.
